Interior Design
It has been proven that the level of design transcends to perceived level of care and competence. Therefore the significance of the interior design, whether for a new build or an addition, is paramount. Environments that are comfortable and provide natural light, natural materials and views of the outdoors create a more inviting environment.
This is why interior design is never an afterthought with Trinity, but a fully integrated part of our architectural design program. We begin collecting service demand analysis information the moment we begin a project, and work toward meeting the innovative and financial demands of each personalized healthcare facility to its end.
Healing Environments
In the past, cleanliness and sanitation were the signs of a healing hospital. While these attributes remain important, there is increasing evidence that patients heal faster when they are in more comfortable, nonthreatening and natural surroundings.
The architects and designers at Trinity know that a hospital can be a fearful place, therefore every effort is made to create an environment that helps reduce stress and facilitates healing. We use familiar and locally relevant materials, create color pallets that are warm and cheerful and provide abundant natural light with plentiful views to the outdoors. Great care is taken to design the space to impede the spread of infectious disease and increase patient safety by reducing the incidence of falls and medical errors while improving workflow patterns for nurses.
Wayfinding/Signage
Clear direction in healthcare facilities is another way the designers at Trinity can lessen the stress of what is often an anxiety-producing situation. Signage plays an important role, however an integrated wayfinding system which also includes design cues such as building elements, texture and color, can better orient patients and families to help them find their destination. Whenever possible it is ideal to combine service lines in one location with their own unique design and branding to help patients almost intuitively find their way.
Interior Standards
Hospital interiors are governed by many regulations, yet Trinity adds one more: To create healing environments for patients and more productive workspaces for nurses and staff. A well designed interior not only looks better and helps patients feel more comfortable, but it also increases morale for the staff. We begin by "visual listening" of existing interiors to determine design direction, then inventory existing interior finishes and materials as to how they are used. Experimental Elements Plans are developed to facilitate the selection of the materials and then we provide an Interior Standards manual for your reference.
Furniture Fixtures & Equipment (FFE)
Smart furniture and equipment selections can help a hospital operate within budget while optimizing every square foot. Trinity's designers are experts in advising the most suitable FFE that will support the overall design yet respond effectively to the functional needs for each location. By combining aesthetics and function with special attention to proportions, scale and detail, Trinity provides design, procurement and installation coordination for equipment, furniture, artwork, lighting, fabrics and accessories.
